If your eggs are at room temperature, you will get a different result.

Cook the eggs

Cool the eggs

As soon as the eggs are done, add plenty of cold water to the pot. No need to drain off the hot water first.Let the eggs cool for about 1 minute to stop them for further cooking, at this point they should still be warm.Drain the water and the eggs are ready to serve.

Notes

If you want an egg where the yolk is a little firmer, but still soft, then just leave them in the pot for a few minutes before you add cold water to cool them down and stop the cooking process.
