Toasted Coconut

When toasting coconut, the flavour changes, becoming much more nutty and complex. You can sprinkle toasted coconut over your oatmeal or yogurt, use it in cakes and desserts, or experiment by adding it to savoury dishes – the possibilities are endless. With temperature control, toasting coconut becomes easier, as it prevents the temperature from getting too high and the coconut from burning.

Toasted Coconut

100 gram Desiccated coconut , or your desired quantity

Toasted coconut

Heat a pan to 190 ºC. Add desiccated coconut and stir occasionally until the coconut turns a lovely golden colour.

Transfer the toasted desiccated coconut onto a piece of parchment paper to cool down. If you leave it in the pan, the residual heat may continue to toast the coconut and it could become too dark.
