This easy and delicious flat bread is a perfect accompaniment to soup and Indian dishes such as dahl, hummus, or topped with some salad, tzatziki dressing and chicken.

The dough is made with baking powder instead of yeast, so you can quickly toss it together and bake the bread right away. No rising time needed.

When you cook the pan bread with temperature control, you can easily prepare the rest of your dinner in the meantime. You don’t have to keep an eye on the bread as you know the bread won’t burn. Just set a timer and flip the bread whenever it sounds.

Ingredients

Pan Bread

400 gram All-purpose flour

1 tsp. Baking powder

1 tsp. Fine salt

150 gram Greek yoghurt , 2-10%

1.5 dl Water

1 tbsp. Olive oil

Steps

1
Mix the dough

Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Add yoghurt, water and oil and mix well.

Pour the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for a few minutes until it gets smoother and more supple. Add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky.

Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces.

2
Bake the bread

Roll out a piece of dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 2-3 mm. Place the dough on the hot pan and bake for 3 minutes on each side. The bread may puff up and form some air pockets. This is perfect, as this will give the bread a nice crust. If the bubbles get too big, you can pop them by pressing the bread down on the pan to make sure the bread is cooked through.

Once the bread is baked, wrap it in a folded kitchen towel. This will keep the bread warm and ensure that it stays soft.

While the first bread is baking, you can roll out the next one. Repeat until all the dough is cooked.

Serve the bread while still warm.

Notes

If you want to cook the bread a little faster, then cook them in two pans at the same time.
