Homemade Nutella

A delicious and creamy chocolate spread.

If you’ve never tried homemade Nutella, you’re missing out.

This Nutella is made with homemade hazelnut praline, which gives the Nutella a deep and complex nut flavour.

Homemade Nutella

240 gram Hazelnut Praline

1 tsp. Oil, grapeseed

140 gram Milk chocolate, 34%

2 tbsp. Cocoa powder

Make the hazelnut praline
Make a portion of hazelnut praline, see how in the attached recipe. The entire portion will be used for the Nutella.
Make the Nutella
Add your hazelnut praline to a food processor or blender and add the remaining ingredients. You have to blend a little, scrape the mixture down, blend again, scrape and so on until the mixture is thin and smooth, and the chocolate has melted. It doesn't take that long, but it does require a little persistence and patience. When the Nutella is done it will be quite runny. Pour it into a bowl and refrigerate. The Nutella will firm up in the fridge.

The cocoa powder gives the Nutella a slightly darker taste, if you want a sweeter and milder Nutella, you can just leave it out.

The oil can be omitted, but it makes the Nutella creamier and easier to spread on a piece of bread.

You can also use different types of chocolate. Dark chocolate 50% gives a slightly darker and stronger chocolate flavour. Whereas 70% might be a bit too dark for most people. The recipe is made with milk chocolate at around 34%, this gives a very rich nutty flavour where the chocolate is not too overpowering.
