Steps

1
Preheat the oil

Pour oil into a frying pan or pot. Set the temperature to 165ºC. Allow the oil to heat for about 10 minutes to ensure that the oil has reached the desired temperature. The temperature sensors are located at the bottom of the pan and will therefore show 165 ºC before the oil has reached the same temperature. Therefore make sure to give the oil time to reach the same temperature.

2
Prepare the onions

Peel the onions and slice them into rings. You can also slice them into half-circles, slices or coarse dice. Pour the flour into a plastic bag and add salt, pepper and cayenne pepper, if using. Add the onions and shake the bag to distribute the flour evenly on the onions. Alternatively, you can mix the flour and onions in a bowl.

3
Fry the onions

Add the onions to the hot oil and stir so the onions don’t clump together. Fry the onions until golden and crispy. This will take about 5 minutes.Use a slotted spoon to remove the onions from the pan. Place them on paper towels or similar to remove excess oil.

Notes
