What is induction?

Induction is a technology used in various appliances, including hobs. By utilizing magnetic fields, induction hobs generate heat directly in the cookware, making them faster and more energy-efficient than other types of hobs. Read more about induction below.

How does induction work?

The difference between induction and other hobs is that induction hobs have a spool beneath the surface. When an electric current passes through the spool, it generates a magnetic field. On an induction hob, only the pot or pan itself becomes hot when placed on a cooking zones. The actual hob surface only gets slightly warm because the magnetic field creates heat directly in the cookware. As a result, heat is utilized and distributed more efficiently within the cookware, resulting in less wasted heat.

Which pots and pans can be used on induction?

You need magnetic pots and pans for induction hobs. Many pots and pans are magnetic or have a magnetic base, and can therefore be used for induction.

Ztoves pots and pans can be used for both regular induction hobs or Ztoves induction hobs. Ztove pots and pans have a 3-layer base with a magnetic layer in the middle, and can therefore be used for induction.

Energy saving and faster heating with induction

Induction technology heats up the cookware very quickly and is the most efficient heating technology for cooking. When you turn off a cooking zone, the heating stops instantly.

Most induction hobs have a residual heat indicator and therefore you can advantageously turn off the hob a couple of minutes before serving, because the cookware retains the heat well. You save energy by reducing the time you need to have the hob turned on.

Induction is powerful and safe

You get faster and more precise heat regulation with induction hobs compared to other types of hobs. Induction hobs offer increased safety, as the hob only heats up when cookware is placed on the cooking zones.

Easy Cleaning of Induction Hobs

Cleaning an induction hob is surprisingly easy, thanks to the unique way induction hobs operate. Unlike traditional hobs where heat is transferred from the hob to the cookware, induction hobs heat the cookware directly using an induction field. This means that the glass surface itself only becomes slightly warm during cooking.

The advantage of this is that if food or liquid spills on the hob during cooking, the risk of it burning onto the surface is minimal. This makes cleaning incredibly easy. All that is usually required is a damp cloth. You can simply wipe the surface with the cloth, effectively removing all food residues and spills without the need for harsh cleaning agents or intensive scrubbing. This saves both time and effort in the kitchen and keeps your induction hob in great condition.
